mayan-face.jpg

Mayan Bounty is from Baltimore. Seems like this is always the case: the band that plays the shortest set turns out to be the best of the night. Mayan Bounty’s set clocks in at just over seven minutes, but I thought it was the best seven minutes of the night (and the other bands didn’t suck either).

thank_you.jpg

Thank You is a progressive rock punk band from Baltimore.

When I hear about local bands that are breaking through to broader, non-local audiences, I’m really happy for them. Bands like Beach House, Celebration, Wye Oak,The Death Set and Ponytail deserve the recognition. There are other bands that will join those ranks with Baltimore exploding with an array of talented bands.

Thank You is the one band that I would have thought would have already joined the list of break-out bands. I don’t know what the problem is, but Thank You is without a doubt the most under-rated Baltimore band playing. I think most people would call them punk (of some variety), though I think they’re more a progressive rock band.

NOTE: Double Dagger was unhappy with portions of their set and have decided against making it available. They may relent and allow me to post portions of the show, maybe one or two of the new tunes? No Allies was pretty damn tasty…

Thank You
