Could the lineup of this show be any better?? Needle Gun played a surprisingly guitar-heavy set, Cars Will Burn/Holy Ghost did some crazy shit with lights (their drumkit/setup is something to behold), Leprechaun Catering looped rubber, and Nautical Almanac put me in a trance. I’m totally serious; two-thirds through the performance, I realized I couldn’t feel any of my limbs, and I hadn’t blinked for about twenty minutes.

This was Twig and Carly’s first show as Nautical Almanac in Baltimore in over two years. Ever since Tarantula Hill burned down on St. Patrick’s Day 2006, they’ve been laying low, and haven’t played live at all until very recently. This show at Floristree was the end of a small tour, their first since November 2005. I was almost sure this was going to sell out, not only because of the awesome lineup, but also the fact that it was the first Nautical Almanac show in a long time. I told Carly that I was surprised that the attendance was sparse; no more than 100 people showed up. She laughed and said, “Nobody gives a shit about us but you guys.”
